Anonymous asked: i love your work but as a black person you should be the last to derive images from racist caricatures. :-/ I mean, it looks nice but I just don't like the charcoal black and round, white clown-ish lips. sorry, hun.

It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t suit your fancy.  I on the other hand like what I’ve drawn (and that’s all that really matters).  I chose the design because personally I find it appealing, maybe not the old renditions, but it seemed to work for this piece. I’m well aware of what it resembles but don’t be so defensive.  Artists, like most people, have different points of view and your not necessarily gonna agree with their opinion.  If anything try to have an open mindset…

  7. davezissou said: There are two black dudes that use minstrel performances to educate people about the stereotyping of black people in media today. This anonymous person is ignorant.
  8. blyujay said: :0 well not entirely anon. his style and use of materials seems to fit into the black and white contexts. it just sort of flows? the image isnt exactly racially charged either.
  9. joyeu said: I think it’s odd for a grey anonymous head to tell you how to should feel about your own race. Although the condescending “hun” at the end would just make me bristle as a reflex.
